Principerna för Creativeship sammanfattas i ”principlampan”. Dessa är tänkta att vara ett dagligt stöd och en påminnelse för dig som chef och ledare i ditt arbete med att skapa förutsättningar för kreativitet.
Det är från lampans sockel som energin kommer. Den är fundamentet och energiflödet för kreativitet. Dess priciper är:
- Du sätter kulturen. Som chef och ledare har du många ansvar: personal, ekonomi, strategi. Mycket av chefens ansvar kan styras med processer. För kreativitet krävs annat än processer; det krävs en kreativ miljö. Den enskilt viktigaste faktorn för arbetsmiljön är dess ledare. Han eller hon slår an vilken kultur som gäller. Som chef och ledare: Inse att du har ansvar och påverkar förutsättningar för kreativitet.
- Obruten tid. Kreativitet förutsätter att resurser finns på plats. Den viktigaste resursen i ett fragmenterat samhälle är tid. Som ledare: se till att ge dina medarbetare obruten tid.
- Självbestämmande. Kreativitet kräver motivation. Det finns yttre motivatorer (t.ex. monetär bonus eller deadlines) och det finns inre motivatorer (arbetsglädje, mening, expertis). En av de starkaste drivkrafterna för inre motivation är sjävbestämmande. Som ledare: ge dina medarbetare självbestämmande över sin tid och sina metoder.
Lampglasets funktion är att skydda glödtråden från omgivande atmosfär, att skapa en bra miljö för glödtråden. Lamplaset representerar chefens/ledarens uppgift att skydda den kreativa miljön.
- Gruppens dynamik: Kreativitet är kombination av redan befintlig kunskap till ny kunskap. Genom att interagera med andra människor kan den tillgängliga befintliga kunskapen utökas. Dessutom är arbetsgemenskap en inre motivator. Som ledare: skapa team med rätt personalsammansättning för kreativt samarbete.
- Många idéer. Det är alltid de många misslyckade idéerna som bär de enstaka lyckade och det går inte på förhand veta om nästa idé är en lyckad idé. Därför är förutsättningen för framgångsrika idéer många idéer. Som ledare: stimulera till många idéer och uppmuntra en kultur där även misslyckade idéer är välkomna.
- Mod – våga misslyckas. Misslyckade idéer är förutsättningen för lyckade idéer. Som chef och ledare måste du föregå med gott exempel och också våga misslyckas. Innan man vet om en idé är lyckad eller misslyckad krävs ett visst mått av utforskande; en sorts inkubatorverksamhet. Denna inkubatorverksamhet kan kräva resurser. Som ledare: våga satsa på en idé för att ta steget som krävs för att utforska om den är lyckad eller misslyckad. Du måste våga för att vinna.
- Utforska det möjliga först. Det är så lätt att hämma det kreativa tänkandet med praktiska begränsningar. Det kan vara producerbarhet, pris, tidplan. Genom att ha med dessa begränsningar i den kreativa processen riskerar fokus att flyttas till vad som inte går istället för vad som är möjligt. Som ledare: tona initialt ned de praktiska begränsningarna, låt dig endast begränsas av fysikens lagar. Låt realiseringen av idén komma sedan.
Glödtråd hålls på plats av två kontakttrådar. Det är mellan dessa kontakttrådar som glödtråden spänningssätts och och börjar glöda.
- Insikt och kunskap om ett behov eller problem. Kreativitet börjar alltid med en utmaning. Utmaningen är att tillfredställa ett behov eller lösa ett problem. Som ledare: se till att utmana dina medarbetare med rätt frågeställningar.
- Individens drivkraft: En idé uppstår alltid i en enskild människas huvud. Detta tillsammans med att den starkaste individuella förutsättningen för kreativitet är inre motivation gör att individens drivkraft är en absolut förutsättning för kreativitet. Som ledare: tillvara ta individens drivkraft, matcha kompetens och intresse mot uppgiften. Uppmuntra kreativa initiativ.
